I was recovering from cancer when a friend asked me to join the Board in 2002. I didn’t think I had the energy, but having retired (on disability grounds), I had time and a strong sense that I should find a way to share my new lease on life. I needed to contribute what I could. Almost 18 years later, I’m still trying to contribute. But I’ll be thrilled to hand over the reins as soon as we feel that a fresh pair of hands is willing and able to take up the challenge.
